It’s almost that time of year again! In just a few weeks, Port Alberni’s Salmon Festival will make its annual return—for a whopping 45^th time!

As its name suggests, this festival is a celebration of all things salmon. Over the course of the weekend, these beautiful fish will be caught, weighed, photographed and—you guessed it—cooked up and eaten. Of course, there’s so much more to this festival than its namesake.

The weekend will also feature plenty of live music and karaoke, a beer garden, a chainsaw carving contest, plenty of fishing demos, and more. Travelling with kids? They’ll have a great time too, as the event will include a handful of entertaining and enriching children’s activities. And finally, it’s worth mentioning that the event will see more than $55,000 in cash and prizes given away, so there’s a good chance you won’t leave empty handed.
